I learned more about emergency management in the first few paragraphs of this newsletter than I did trudging through the textbook for my class, Technology for Emergency Management (hint: the title of the book and the class are very similar). I’m now headed off to Amazon to get your book–I don’t care if Wiley has a whole series of books, if the one I read is representative, then the future of American emergency management is bleak indeed..

    Thanks for the kind words. They’re very much appreciated.
    Fortunately, the future of emergency management is very bright, at least judging from the educators and students I’ve met through FEMA’s Higher Education Program. Once they gain experience, they will surpass us because of their strong knowledge base.
    With regards to books, I’ve got a section in the email portion of my newsletter in which I hope to highlight some of the better (and more readable!) books in the field.
