Thanks for the kind words and for passing the article on. I’m still thinking through a lot of the implications of what I’ suggesting because I don’t want to discourage or limit planners. But I do think we need to acknowledge that our resources are limited and that we need prioritize our planning. Continuous improvement is the goal.
Another complication with chasing compliance around is that it can change every 4 years. You mention focusing on EMFs. They were the guidance just before ESFs. And now there are Core Capabilities. It all boils down to the same thing. Write a good plan, include operations planners in the planning process, account for resource gaps, keep accurate behavior assumptions, and your resulting plan will be realistic and valuable.
